An Attitude of Gratitude

NGSC: TamiNique
Gratitude is defined as the quality or feeling of being grateful or thankful.  As we knock on the door of holiday season for this year, I just had an epiphany of just how much in life that I have to be grateful for.  Sometimes it is easy to lose sight of our blessings, which is when it is the perfect time to sit still and reflect about those things.
There have been many times that I have found myself complaining about situations that I have the power to change myself.  Once I realized that the small things that I complain about may be miniscule as compared to others, I sat myself down and reeled my gratitude in to be thankful for what I do have.
closetTangible possessions such as clothes, shoes, cars, houses, etc. were all a point of complaint at some point in time for me.  I would look at a closet full of clothes and say, “I don’t have anything to wear”.  I know many of us have done that!  Or how about, “this house is not big enough, I need more space”?  When in actuality, it is a blessing to have a choice to go to a closet within a home and choose an outfit to put on my back!  There are people in this world that don’t have those choices at this point in their lives…There are poverty stricken people and homeless people that would trade their lives in for mine any day of the week.
So I say to you, the next time you think about opening your mouth to complain about what you don’t have, or what could be different…Think about those that are less fortunate and count your blessings!!!
